The trademark has also been filed in the US and EU and Blizzard have changed the banners for the beta opt-in on battle.net to an image of Thrall - the same one that has been spotted on Blizzcon banners being put up. It might just be a generic WoW theme since Thrall has been the de facto main character for a long time or it might actually have something to do with the expansion (as it's the older, non-shamanized version of Thrall).
There have also been rumors going around about Grom Hellscream being the main antagonist of the expansion and that Outland is going to get a makeover in the same way Azeroth did in Cataclysm. Only a few more days til Blizzcon when we'll know for sure!
More trademark action over in New Zealand and Australia with Blizzard's latest entry in the name game coming up. With "The Dark Below" so far being the front-runner for the next expansion name it seems this new one may take precedence. Warlords of Draenor fits pretty well into the rumored Burning Legion theme and is right square in Blizzard's apparent new policy of using only the most generic and uninteresting titles for their games, started recently with the MOBA Heroes of the Storm. If this thing is real and the other rumor about time travel is as well we may get to see what exactly happened on Draenor first hand - which should come in handy as that whole area has been retconned quite a bit.
Here's the important bits of the trademark:
- Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
- Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.
And the whole thing:
I cannot express just how terrible and bland I find this name and I really REALLY hope it's a misdirection and not the real thing.
