2012 was the year of Mists of Pandaria, with no other raids or major content to mess with it. For us, it was the year that we switched from focusing on two guilds to embracing the entire raiding community and we're better for it. But, more importantly, it was also the year that Buzzkill and Mancy pissed off a lot of people! Joking aside, we've actually had a lot of good articles over the year so we thought we'd look back and remind you of some of the best that you may have missed or just might want to read again. If you want to check out all the articles of a specific feature just click on the banner above the list. You should also definitely vote for your favorite article or articles on the site this year so we can get more of that type of content for you in the future. But let's get to it, shall we.
This year was a big one for Buzz, he covered almost the entirety of his stay in Ensidia as well as some relevant topics regarding raiding in general. He also managed to upset a couple of his former fellow raiders which always turns out entertaining. This is one of those you really want to click on the banner above, we really felt bad we couldn't add all of the entries on the best of list, basically.
One of our more recent features, Mancy returned to tell us about his journey from a casual raider to his place in the top guilds at the end of his career and everything that happened along the way.
We got some great insight into the workings of the current 25 man world No.3 guild with Luumis' series of articles in general, but our favorite had to be the Dragon Soul Challenge one. It was one of the more exciting (and popular) events of this year and Luumis gave us some deep background on preparations and how it all really went down from vodka's perspective.
And a close second, Luumis' look back at his time in vodka along with some of his trademark TeamSpeak segments from the raids.
This new series of interview focused on the main members, the backbone of a guild that held it all together and are some of the best players in the world.
We've also had a ton of very interesting interviews with the top guilds during the year, especially during this tier's progress as well as other interesting goings on regarding the very top competitors in WoW.
We've neglected Manacasts recently, but there have been a few really great ones this year, so if you enjoy discussing (or listening to discussions of) games other than WoW you'll definitely love these. For some reason the first part of the Mass Effect 3 Manacast went MIA so only Part 2 is available, but that's the juicy one anyway.
Sheya has long ago mastered the soloing arts and this year was as busy as ever with his list of un-soloed bosses steadily shrinking.
And, just to be extra meta, here's the compilation of his previous best videos
And now for the best one-ofs or some features that have only started very recently:
The decision to split raid sizes on Asian servers was a bit of a shocker and sparked a lot of discussion, and we covered all of the pros and cons in this article as well as discussed them further.
We also started our comprehensive listing of all World Firsts in WoW this year and got some great feedback (and some corrections!) on it, this is one of our personal favorites and we'll be continuing the series very soon.
With so many players today not having experienced a taste of Vanilla (that was bad, I apologize), we thought why not transport you back to the very beginnings of WoW so you can take a tour of the game in it's proto-state. Luckily Wormie volunteered to share his experiences from back then.
Hot on the trail of our World First list Eoy popped by to fill us all in on the shady happenings that occured during these ancient progress races.
This was definitely one of the high-points of the year, with over a thousand people joining us in the Manaflask guild for a few months and a great time re-creating Vanilla raiding.
And then there are the less fancy (but no less awesome) articles that didn't get their own banners :(
Difficulty and its Importance to Raiding and PvE
One of the best articles I've ever written and I still think it's a very important issue that needs to be addressed both in WoW and gaming in general.
Nihilum's End: The Starym Perspective
Buzz clearly got it wrong.
Your Opinion: Is Zor'lok Too Hard? - Fare Well, Friend
For a few days there in Heart of Fear this guy was our favorite boss ever. Check out why!
Nihilum Stories: Tradewind
We've heard a lot from Buzzkill and myself about Nihilum, but here we got a hold of another old-school member to take us through his own experiences in the guild.
The New Dragon Soul Challenge: VoDs!
The second Dragon Soul Challenge had more guilds involved and was just as fun (if not more so) as the first.
Dragon Soul Challenge: Vodka Vs. Method
The original race to the top, funny how those two guilds are now No.1 and No.3 on the charts!
Hordes of Players Killed by Hack - Update: More Videos, Comments from Hacker
One of the more interesting events of the year, and even though it was a malicious thing it still brought a lot of life into the game, making us wish Blizzard would organize some events (perhaps not exactly like this).
Outdoor Dragon Nihilum PvP Stories
And that's about it. If you have any other favs from this year be sure to share them with us below so we can bring you more of that type of content in the future! And ofc, have a Happy New Year!
